POSITION SUMMARY

Exciting opportunity for experienced creative writers/editors in Hartford, CT or New York, NY area.

Communications Director - Editorial Strategist is responsible for helping to create, collect and work with communication and marketing colleagues to tell stories that demonstrate how Aetna is building a healthier world. You will establish an editorial strategy and processes that enable us to communicate a consistent, meaningful and inspirational Aetna narrative to our key audiences.

You will possess creativity and proven expertise in storytelling, and will demonstrate top-notch, consumer-focused writing and editing skills as well as operational experience in establishing strong content and editorial processes. You will partner with colleagues across the Communications function to ensure alignment of editorial strategies. You will serve as editorial lead for the company's Annual Report, one of our primary storytelling assets. To be successful, you will provide sound communication and editorial guidance and ensure the successful execution of plans.

Fundamental Components:

Expand and formalize existing key messages into a consolidated Key Message database.

Create a consistent model for capturing key messages and proof points for use by Enterprise Communications and others in Corporate Affairs and Marketing.

Partner with colleagues and vendors to understand influencers and what messages are relevant and resonating with these influencers.

Leverage insights and analytics research to ensure relevance of our story to our key audiences.

Work across Enterprise Communications to help ensure our key messages reflect evolving narrative.

Partner with colleagues across Enterprise Communications and Corporate Affairs to help bring the Aetna story and brand to life through engaging campaigns and content that highlight our most compelling stories.

Set the editorial strategy and serve as the editor and lead writer for the Aetna's Annual Report.

Ensure that all communications are error-free, accurate, appropriately approved and consistent with Aetna's core values.

Understand and support the Aetna brand.

Measure program effectiveness, actively review results and make adjustments to improve efficacy.

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:

Experience developing and executing successful editorial strategies programs for large organizations

Experience in writing and editing all kinds of communication on short notice and as part of long-term initiatives

Ability to build relationships, integrate strategies, and connect the dots between messages, timing and activities being carried out by other communication professionals.

EDUCATION

The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
