The Engineering Technician I is required to provide excellent customer service as he/she is the first line of support to the manufacturing center floor. This technician also provides support on data tracking, time collection, audits, preparing work instructions and collaborates on special projects.

 

This is a 2nd shift position with hours of Monday-Thursday from 4:15pm-2:45am.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Position requires basic knowledge of time studies.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and at least six months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Associate’s Degree in electronics preferred

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Electronics repair training or certifications are desired

 

SKILLS

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos and instructional emails
  • Ability to work alone and in groups
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and activity reports
  • Possess strong communication and organizational skills
  • Must know how to use a computer (Windows environment)
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and maintenance management software is a plus
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic math and algebra

 

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The technician will respond to calls in the production floor, and all other areas where a production needs assistance. The technician may be required to assist production at the start of the shift or on weekends during ramp up phases or layout/process changes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and electronic issues to ensure test and manufacturing equipment is operating according to requirements and specifications
    • Some of the equipment includes manual test stations, high potency testers, scanners, automated test stations, among others
  • Ability to interact with a proactive attitude and customer mindset when working with production associates, supervisors and coworkers from other areas or departments
  • Ability to perform his/her daily duties following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Sequence Of Events (SOE) and other related documentation
  • Read and interpret schematic drawings, diagrams, blueprints, specifications and work orders to determine materials requirements or troubleshooting instructions or ensure compliance
  • Ability to work on specific items with little to no supervision as well as being part of a crew or team
  • Knowledge on maintaining and repair of torque drivers and soldering equipment is highly desired
  • Experience working with a Maintenance management system such as SAP-Maintenance or Mpulse is desired
  • Familiarity with 5S, TPM and other Lean Manufacturing techniques
  • Assist with special engineering projects such as new product introduction, layout and/or process changes
  • Assist other groups (IT, Maintenance, Facilities, Production) as required or instructed by supervisor
  • Physical ability to lift and move production equipment such as benches, racks, carts, cabling and computers
