Position Purpose

The Feed Food Safety and Quality Senior Professional (Specialist II) position provides a higher level of specialized knowledge of specific segments of our Feed FSQR systems and/or plant processes. Areas of specialization include: food safety and quality auditing, domestic and international regulatory compliance, food safety risk assessment, specific product line knowledge, and other needed focus areas. This position is expected to provide technical knowledge and support for moderate to highly complex projects across multiple locations and problems which may be directly tied to production areas, customers/suppliers, or other quality management systems. On an enterprise level, in addition to normal enterprise collaboration, this position may be called on for their expertise in helping multiple locations develop systems, resolve problems, or handle customer or supplier situations. This position works with their counterparts to share best practices and identify and implement best practices at their locations. This position is able to independently identify complex or long term problems, identify/use resources and implement solutions. Food Safety and Quality Professional (Specialist II) may supervise one or more interns, lab technicians, chemist I or Product Line Support Chemist (PLSC) (chemist II).

Principal Accountabilities

50% Accountability for Feed FSQR regulatory compliance across multiple facilities and multiple feed products.

10% Corn Quality management.

10% In-depth management of specific segments of quality management systems (i.e., food safety, regulatory,

specific product lines or other quality systems, etc.), corn quality management, and providing support for operations or other functional areas where needed.

10% Customer/supplier/co-manufacturer interaction, presentations, response to audits and issues, enterprise and local execution of best practice initiatives.

10% Analyzes, reviews and interprets FSQR policies, regulations, customer and supplier standards for multiple locations and drive continuous improvement in the areas of processes, plant design and customer focus for the feed business.

5% Training of employees on food safety programs and regulatory changes.

5% Miscellaneous job related duties i.e. supervision of interns, chemists or PLSC's, recruiting, operations or FSQR supervisory.

Required

* Bachelor's Degree in a science field.

* Minimum 5 years of quality/operations/technical experience.

* Minimum 3 years of experience as a Specialist, Supervisor, PDG, engineer, or Scientist.

* Demonstrated technical and leadership skills.

* Ability to adapt and learn in a changing work environment.

* Ability to manage multiple priorities.

* Strong attention to detail.

* Microsoft Office Suite experience.

* Ability to work independently.

* Ability to work in a team environment.

* Demonstrated strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Preferred

* Understanding of the regulatory requirements for both animal and pet food.

* Knowledge of FSMA

* Knowledge of HACCP

* Highly self-motivated.

* Demonstrated ability to positively influence the thoughts and/or actions of others.
