Position Summary

The Cardiac and Electrophysiology Tech Supervisor is the leader and role model for professional practice conducted in the department setting. This supervisory role requires a knowledge base, skills, and competencies in the clinical practice and administration. It is a shared responsibility with the department manager and the institution to develop and maintain administrative account abilities that include but not limited to: clinical practice management, personnel management, and environmental management in the Cath and Ep lab. The Cath/Lab Tech Supervisor must maintain a positive and progressive mindset towards change to ensure the CATH/EP Labs are evolving with the ever-changing cardio/vascular health care environment.

Essential Job Functions

  • Function as a participating credentialed team member in the department and implement and maintenance of standards of care.
  • Direction and coordination of a selected delivery system of patient care and assure customer satisfaction measures are adhered to by fellow caregivers
  • Incorporate regulatory mandates into laboratory practice and ongoing quality assurance activities.
  • Identify and plan for developmental needs of the caregivers and ensuring there are caregivers to have 24-hour coverage appropriate to patient care needs.
  • Conduct timely and periodic performance appraisals based on hospital standards.
  • Promotion of a collaborative practice with other health care disciplines to assure an integrated approach to care of the patient.
  • Facilitate and develop realistic annual budget needs and active promotion of cost effective unit operations.
  • Acts as an agent of the supervising physician for any medical services that are delegated that are within the Advanced Practice Clinician’s scope of practice.
  • Institutes appropriate emergency measures in critical situations until the physician is notified for orders or arrives to manage the emergency.
  • In consultation with HR, oversees recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and disciplinary process for caregivers. When necessary, defines appropriate disciplinary action and administrates within policies and procedures.

Educational Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Radiology Program or RCIS Program - Required

3-5 years of Cath Lab, EP Lab or Interventional Radiology experience - Required

Required Licensure and Certification

American Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) - Required

BLS/ACLS - Required

Registry of Cardiovascular Specialists and Assistants (RCSA) - Preferred
