The Nurse Practitioner (NP/FNP) is responsible for providing primary care intervention in the Ambulatory Clinic setting, working under the supervision of the Medical Director and Manager of Clinics. Provides direct patient care for patients: coordinates the delivery of services. The NP/FNP is concurrently responsible for the development, implementation and on-going evaluation of medical care policies and procedures in conjunction with the Medical Director. They work cooperatively with the licensed, administrative, and support staff to ensure the on-going operation of the department. The NP/FNP directly supervises health care professionals and support staff in compliance with the State of California and State of Oregon Nurse Practice Act certification and standards. Is directly responsible for quality patient care. Advocates for specific needs of client population. The NP/FNP shall provide urgent and primary care in an outpatient setting. The NP/FNP should work independently with physician back-up as required by diagnostic uncertainty or inability of the practitioner to address the complaint due to scope of practice or complexity of the problem

Education

Bachelor Degree required.

Master Degree preferred.

Certification/Registration/Licensure

CA and OR NP license, DEA furnishing license

BLS, ACLS, PALS

Experience/Knowledge/SKills

Minimum of 2 years experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in an ambulatory/primary care setting preferred. Prioritize and manage multiple demands in an ever changing environment. Routine and complex care of pediatric patients

Special Requirements

Must obtain Medical Staff privileges prior to hire. Must understand, speak, and write English. Able to speak other languages highly desirable. Update CME as required by license. Ability to comprehend and follow instructions; ability to perform simple and repetitive tasks; ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to a given work load; ability to get along with co-workers or peers and general public; ability to recognize potential hazards and follow appropriate precautions; ability to understand and remember detailed instructions. Participate in committee meetings and groups as needed. Maintain effective working relationships with patients, visitors, staff, physicians, other PA's, FNP's, and ancillary workers.
