Responsibilities: Prepares specimens and performs testing procedures on pathology specimens that result in the creation of microscopic slide preparations for diagnostic and/or prognostic analysis by the pathologist. Applies technical theory to provide overall operational support necessary to maintain and optimize testing activities. Able to accommodate scheduling adjustments, off shifts, holidays, on-call, and weekend work assignments. Assists with training of students and employees.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and HTL certified through the ASCP Board of Registry.

Additional Qualifications: Graduate of a NAACLS accredited program preferred. Graduates of the Mayo School of Health Sciences Histology Technician Program will receive preference.

License or Certification: Histotechnologist (HTL) certified through the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) required at start date. Employees obtaining certification(s) after January 1, 2004 will be required to demonstrate evidence of ongoing maintenance of certification.

Exemption Status: Non-exempt

Compensation Detail: Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $26.61 per hour.

Hours/Pay Period: 80

Schedule Details: Monday - Friday, Day Time Hours

Weekend Schedule: Possible weekend hours as workload determines
