Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required to Perform Essential Job Function:
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with supervisor, coworkers and members of the public.
- Knowledge of cleaning and routine facilities maintenance procedures, equipment and supplies.
- Ability to utilize various equipment and tools associated with facilities cleaning and maintenance operations, including, but not limited to utility vehicles, trucks, power tools, lifts, skid loaders, shovels, snow blowers and hand tools.
- Ability to think critically and problem solve building and maintenance issues in a proactive manner.
- Ability to exercise good judgement.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to exert heavy, physical effort, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, as well as lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials 20-50 pounds regularly, and as much as 75-100 occasionally.
- Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollens, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, traffic hazards, toxic agents, disease or pathogenic substances.
Qualifications Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year related experience involving facilities maintenance or construction or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position.
- Driving is an essential function of this position and individual must possess and maintain a valid Indiana driver’s license and be insurable.
- Prefer working knowledge of and experience in electrical, HVAC or plumbing trades.
- Ability to complete continuing education units as necessary.
