We at Headway Workforce Solutions are partnering with the University of Michigan Survey Research Center (SRC) to find eager and organized part-time Field Interviewers within the greater Dallas area to work on the Housing and Children’s Healthy Development Study (HCHD)
 
Housing and Children’s Healthy Development Study (HCHD) is an exciting study with innovative design features and methodologies. It seeks to explore issues related to the constraints faced by low income parents, particularly when they seek housing, and determine their effects on children’s development.

The Housing and Children's Healthy Development Study is funded by the National Institutes of Child Health and Human Development, the U.S. Department of Housing and Development (HUD), the MacArthur Foundation and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
 
As a Part Time Field Interviewer, you will be making face-to-face visits to talk with respondents, conducting interviews with adults and children. All training and equipment will be provided.

Are you able to...?

  • Attend paid training April 30th – May 2nd in Dallas
  • Cold call and knock on doors in survey area
  • Confidently use a tablet or laptop
  • Read text verbatim
  • Measure room sizes using a laser tape measure
  • Take dried blood spot samples from eligible children
  • Work an average of 25 hours per week (4-6 hours per shift, mostly evenings and weekends)
  • Work for a full year following training in May 2017
  • Self-motivate to get to work and achieve goals
  • Portray a professional demeanor at all times

Physical Demands

  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position with or without accommodations.
  • Ability to transport up to 25 pounds of equipment and climb stairs while transporting equipment.
  • Regular and reliable access to an insured motor vehicle.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, sit for periods of time, and use hands and fingers, grasping, reaching, lifting, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
  • Experience and ability to operate a smart phone and or tablet including connecting to Wi-Fi and using/sending email on a mobile device.

Required Qualifications:

  • Available to attend a local 2-day training at the end of April; followed by in-person training in Ann Arbor, May 9-18, 2017. (including travel days)
  • Available to work up to 25 hours per week, including weekdays, evenings and weekends, May 30, 2017 – May 30, 2018.
  • Ability to screen households and complete face-to-face interviews in neighborhoods with public housing, including areas of poverty and crime.
  • Ability to perform administrative tasks including record keeping, daily transmissions by computer, daily submission of time and expense data, reconciling travel advances, and attending all required calls/meetings.
  • Ability to adhere to Survey Research Operations professional standards for communication and respondent relations.

Desired qualifications:

  • Screening (cold calling) experience
  • Spanish language skills
  • Experience with physical measures or health care
