Position Purpose: To act as a host/hostess to the concierge lounge by setting up food and beverage offerings, to greet and assist guests with all their requests in a prompt and courteous manner, to act as a hotel ambassador by providing special assistance and information about the hotel and local area attractions to guests. The concierge plays an important role in exceeding our guests expectations.

This is a part-time position. 

Essential Performance Functions:

  • Greet guests immediately with a friendly and sincere welcome. Use a clear and positive speaking voice. Listen to and understand guest requests. Respond to inquiries with accurate information regarding outlet hours of operations, directions to local attractions, car rentals, and airline shuttle service, etc. according to individual needs.
  • Respond with appropriate action and provide accurate information such as operational hours, directions to attractions, advice on restaurants, bars, nightclubs, theater shows, transportation needs and any further questions or guest needs, The concierge always has the answer to all questions
  • Present food and beverage offerings in a timely and highly visual manner. Be prompt with set up and adhere to hours of offerings. Present all food and beverage in a visual manner using floral and theme-oriented props. Refresh food and beverage proactively so not to inconvenience a guest. Maintain all par levels for china, glass, and silverware. Inventory food and beverage daily and order effectively through purchasing department.

II.      Essential Hospitality Functions

  • SMILE!    When dealing with internal or external guests, communicate (verbally and non-verbally) with them in a pleasant manner
  •  how competence by completing all job responsibilities effectively and efficiently
  •    Take INITIATIVE; be willing to assume responsibility for exceeding guests’ expectations

III.Supportive Performance Functions

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.

  • Direct guests and escort guests to hotel outlets, transportation desks, registration desks, etc. Provide a detailed tour of the hotel including history upon a guest request.
  • Escort VIP guests to accommodations
  • Operate fax machine to send and receive faxes
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Congeniality, competence, consistency, and initiative are hospitality principles the staff members are required to practice. It is important that these principles be considered as much a part of job performance as are the duties assigned

Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which is established by the associate handbook, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment

IV.Specific Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions, and practice the hospitality functions, with or without reasonable accommodations, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger and collect accurate information and resolve conflicts
  • Ability to listen effectively, to speak and write English effectively
  • Operate a computer to obtain information from the internet
  • Ability to stand, walk, and/or sit and continuously perform essential job functions
  • Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations

V.Qualification Standards

Education:      

High School Diploma Required; College Experience Preferred

Experience:

Prior hospitality/ concierge experience preferred

Licenses or Certificates:

TIPs Certification required.  Training sessions provided on property.

Grooming:

All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance in proper uniform and in compliance with handbook guidelines

Other:

Notice:

Standing, bending, stooping, and lifting weights up to and including 25 lbs. May be required. The lodging business functions seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day. In addition, this is a hospitality business and a hospitable service atmosphere must be projected at all times.
