The Store Leader / General Manager will be accountable and responsible for the operations of a MAACO Center, contributing to company goals in the areas of: service, profit and operating efficiency, all under the direction of an Area Operations Leader. The success of a GM is based predominantly on his/her ability to influence, motivate and develop his/her staff and the GM’s general focus should be on developing people, as successful people achieve significant results.

Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides leadership to all center personnel and management to those filling primary sales, customer service, production and administrative positions 

  • Manage the recruitment and retention of personnel as needed to achieve objectives and maintain the long-term health of the business through staffing the center to guidelines, interviewing prospective employees to determine best applicant 

  • Ensuring center staff is trained and supported for success to meet or exceed all Maaco/AFG KPI’s and continually improve the skill level of all personnel by facilitating training opportunities and on-the-job skills enhancement 

  • Ensuring the center is operated within all relevant legal, regulatory, and company requirements 

  • Enforcing the “Maaco Model” operating system, ensuring all MAACO and AFG SOP’s followed 

  • Communicating performance objectives to all personnel, providing Sales/Tech/Procedure/Safety 
coaching, training, and performance reviews to staff 

  • Evaluates employees routinely including annual performance reviews to assist all employees in 
working to their individual potentials 

  • Following and diligently enforcing all IEPA/OSHA guidelines 

  • Enforcing all rules and regulations, holding employees accountable for their actions 

  • Working with Area GM/Coach on all costs including utilities, internet, supplies, etc. 

  • Measuring Weekly Production of techs, other employees, and producing/submitting payroll 

  • Establishing long-term and short-term goals to ensure business direction is met 

  • Setting Weekly Estimating, Sales, & Production goals, reviewing, and discussing KPI’s with staff 

  • Creating Daily Production Plan for the Assistant/Production Manager to execute and holding 
them accountable 

  • Identify, establish and monitor financial performance goals for the business and individual 
departments including sales growth, the gross profit on labor, parts, paint & materials, and sublet, 
overhead expense management, and the management of receivables, inventories, and fixed assets 

  • Set standards and develop action plans to facilitate improvement of business performance and 
standards for quality, customer service and satisfaction, promotional efforts, and employee 
satisfaction and retention 

  • Completing all administrative reporting tasks, including daily electronic dashboard(s) 
daily/weekly logbook/checklists, weekly WSBR submission, including payroll/labor, inventory 
purchasing, producing Sales Reports and compiling any additional adhoc reports as requested 

  • Establishing and monitoring sales and production goals and standards, owning the daily production plan and daily team meetings to review plans and goals, and evaluating that work is 
being performed efficiently 

  • Measuring and evaluating production staff performance and that work is being performed in 
accordance with management goals, measuring quality standards by inspecting work both in 
process and pre-delivery. 

  • Conducting weekly team meetings to review results, provide training, and conduct team building 

  • Manage the primary relationships with outside entities including insurers, vendors, major 
customers, and the community, acting as a brand ambassador, and performing weekly outside 
trade sales calls 

  • Answering customer concerns and complaints 

  • Proactively manage the customer service and quality assurance levels of the business and take action before small problems become large ones. 

  • Monitoring credits, parts, shop supplies, shop tools and reconciling daily purchases 

  • Collecting Accounts Receivable and any other debt 

  • Reviewing equipment monthly for safety/repair and staying up to date with industry technology 

  • Attending regional and other company meetings, as applicable 

  • Ensuring Centers are actively involved in their respective communities 

  • Exercising leadership, tact, diplomacy to inspire/motivate teamwork achieving goals & objectives 

  • Ensures daily/weekly cleaning and shop organization 

  • Completing special projects and other activities as requested and assigned
