DESCRIPTION

The person in this position is responsible for providing advanced level clinical and public health nursing services at Clinical and Community Health Services Divisions of the Department of Health in Sarasota County. This position will provide nursing services to patients in OB/GYN, adult and pediatric clinics under the direction of a Senior CHN Supervisor. This job involves risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Selected immunizations are a prerequisite for this position.

Job Specific

I. Provide direct nursing services within scope of nursing practice using DOH and DOH-Sarasota policies and procedures.

Assists physicians during OB/GYN clinics.

Conducts OB nursing histories within scope of nursing practice, using Department of Health Technical Assistance Guidelines, evidence-based guidelines, and agency policies/procedures.

Provides physician assistance during patient examinations and procedures.

Performs routine diagnostic tests, medical treatment, and procedures such as taking and recording temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure; changing sterile dressings and collecting specimens for laboratory analysis.

HIV pre-and post-test counseling for DOH-Sarasota clients in accordance with agency procedures and protocols.

Performs nursing chart audits to ensure completeness and accuracy of chart.

Provides coverage for adult and/or pediatric clinics as necessary.

II. Performs Clinical Support Services

Provides documentation to and updates patient records.

Refers and collaborates with community agencies or other resources to facilitate access and continuity of care.

Documents and maintains accurate, comprehensive client records in accordance with agency policies and procedures.

III. Performs related work as required.

Attends and participates in staff development and in-service education programs.

Attends Ql meetings.
