Our company is currently looking for an experienced, certified coder for a small medical practice located in downtown Atlanta.The Medical Coding and Billing Specialist directly affects the profitability of the office by following up for payment and accurately coding visits and procedures. 
The qualified person must have at least 3 - 5 years of coding experience and have an active coding certification. This position is initially part-time and will go full-time based upon performance. Job Description:
* Billing Specialist will follow patient accounts through the entire billing process from eligibility to completion of payment process.
* Review provider medical records to identify coding and that documentation supports diagnosis and procedure coding. 
* Ensure provider offices are submitting appropriate supporting documentation, procedure and diagnosis codes.
* Provides medical billing and collection processes by verifying eligibility and benefits, obtaining pre-authorizations, entering in medical codes, requesting payments and resolving account issues.
* Contact patients and insurance companies for payment requests, overdue payments, denied claims and arrange payment plans.
* Enters medical codes from patient charts for visits or procedures and ensures compliance and correct coding practices.Collection or sending secondary claims.
* Provides customer service to patients by educating them on insurance policies, billing procedures and coding issues. Calls patients and insurance companies to follow-up with account information.
* Assist with coding questions and/or researches for guidelines.
* Assist with answering telephone inquiries regarding billing and coding and provides information as requested.
* Remain updated with current coding and billing regulations and compliance requirements
Travel Requirements: Once or twice a year employee will need to travel for continuing education training courses locally and regionally with occasional overnight travel.
Required Qualifications:
* Must have a GED or High School Diploma
* Must have certified billing and coding credentials to be considered
* 3 - 5 years of certified coding experience REQUIRED
* Proficient in CPT, CPT II, ICD-10-CM and HCPCS level II coding.
* Good working knowledge of anatomy and pathophysiology.
* Good working knowledge of major insurance policies including Medicare and Medicaid
* Knowledge of medical office billing practices and basic clinic operating procedures.
* Intermediate knowledge in Microsoft Office software including Word and Excel.
* QuickBooks knowledge a plus
* Must be willing to open up office
* Willing to work Mon.-Thu.8:30AM - 5:00PM and Fri. 8:30AM - 4:30PM
* Upon hire, a drug test, background check, employment verification and coding certification verification will be conducted.
