SUMMARY
Patrols property to ensure security of guests, building and premises.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Completes security checklist.
  • Walks through entire property inside building and around the outside to assure security, including locking outside doors.
  • Assists guests as requested, including with luggage, room keys, directions, and safety walks to guestroom.
  • Enforces a quiet environment for sleeping guests.
  • Addresses guest complaints by investigations and giving warnings up to and including eviction of guests.
  • Closes pool and straightens and picks up pool area after closing.
  • Checks kitchen, banquet and meeting rooms to make sure doors and cabinets are locked.
  • Delivers items to guestrooms for front desk, pillows, blankets, cribs, etc.
  • Picks up room service trays and breakfast door knockers, deliver express check outs and morning newspapers as needed.
  • Provides transportation as needed in property vehicle and checks vehicles to ensure they are clean and fuel tank full.
  • Provides break to night auditor and assists with answering phones.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Less than high school education; or up to one-month related or transferable experience/training; or equivalent combination or education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to respond to complaints or inquiries from groups of managers, customers, employees and general public. Ability to communicate effectively before groups of customers or employees in person, via telephone or in writing.
 
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to read, write and recognize numbers, comprehend signs and symbols.
 
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations.
 
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: May require a valid driver's license, DOT qualification or valid CDL depending on business unit.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and various types of driving conditions and frequently works with moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, temperature extremes from cleaning laundry areas to outside weather conditions, and mild risk of electrical shock and occasionally works with toxic or caustic chemicals and power tools or power equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

CRISIS MANAGEMENT: Must be able to handle a crisis in a calm, effective manner. This includes upset guests, fire, tornado, armed robbery and assault, bomb threats and accidents.
